Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the key to success for any business that is active on the web. It not only helps find relevant keywords when searches are conducted via search engines, but also helps save a big deal of money. As experts put it – “SEO is the best customer acquisition strategy in the online world”.

Jason Mark Anderman, President and Co-Founder of the start-up whichdraft.com, the site that lets freelancers automatically create sophisticated contracts online and offers lawyers document assembly in the cloud, saved good money this year by learning search engine optimization.

“I engaged an SEO Consultant to come up with a strategy for me and recommend SEO software for keyword research, then executed that strategy myself. I estimate that we saved at least $15,000, which we otherwise would have spent on this,” says Jason.

Explaining further, Jason says, “You can easily spend a good deal of money engaging an SEO expert if you’re not an educated customer. While there are many disreputable providers out there, even if you are working with a respectable person, you can’t expect to pay him/her once for a limited scope project and be finished. If you are going to be online, you need to regularly work on executing a effective SEO techniques. I believe you can go in one of two different directions.

“First, you can become a customer of a strong, ongoing SEO services. For instance, in the legal industry, RealPractice.com is a leader, offering a set monthly rate, building your website into their SEO lead generation platform, and even offering lead conversion tools to help you track and sign up new clients.

“Second, you can engage an SEO specialist to build out a strategy for you, and execute it yourself. That strategy may require you to buy the leading software application for key word research, Market Samurai, engage in article marketing, use Tumblr for back link generation, or other activities. If you are not a fan of the key word research, you can ask your SEO consultant to do that for you at a set, small monthly rate, so you can just focus on the research results in obtaining a variety of back links for your desired key words to generate traffic to your site. A good deal of doing this effectively, as well as running your social media campaign (which you should do as well), requires you to generate a significant amount of subject matter expert content about your business and industry. This is not something that your SEO expert is likely to do well. Also, because it takes a fair amount of time, you can save a great deal of money creating this content yourself,”Jason explains.
