Many of us find getting out of the door in the mornings on time can seem like a constant battle. A recent study conducted by Today Show/AOL survey revealed that on average women spend 6.4 hours each week on their appearance. While, men spend a total of 4.5 hours a week getting ready to leave for work. Whether you are single, married or have kids, getting out the door on time can be a hassle if you are not organized. Here we have put together a few small business advice that will help save your time in the morning.
There are a few time saving tips you must follow to leave home on time, looking refreshed, focused and all geared up to face the challenges your profession offers.
Make a to-do list the night before– This is important to create a to-do list the day before. Once the list is in place, you can sleep well with less on your mind.
Pack your bag the previous night and also check the next day’s forecast– Make sure you have all the documents you need to carry to the office. Pack your bag at night, it saves a lot of time in the morning. If you know the weather forecast, you can decide what to wear the next day and also make plans for your commute.
Pick your outfit– Decide on your outfit the night before. It will save you time in the morning because you don’t have to rummage through your wardrobe in the morning. Also avoid ironing in the morning. Pick out wrinkle free clothes for work.
Prepare your coffeemaker– If you need a dose of caffeine in the morning; prepare your coffeemaker the night before. Most machines come with a brewing time alarm.
Have a scheduled bed time– Get to bed at the same time every night. A good night’s sleep is better than more sleep. You will wake up feeling more refreshed and focused.
Start your day 20 minutes earlier-This will allow a few minutes of “me time” before the other family members wake up. Open the curtains/windows and let the sun in. The reason is when the sunlight hits your, face it taps into the circadian rhythm of the brain and wakes you up.
It is a good idea to drink a glass of water immediately after you wake up. It will kick start your metabolism and energize you. If you have no time for a full-blown exercise, do some quick stretches. It increases the heart pumping rate and also gets rid of the lethargy. Have a hearty and nutritious breakfast, if you want optimal energy. Another important point to be noted is, avoid catching up on the emails and text messages in the morning. Keep your keys and bag in a place where you can easily pick them up from. Last but not the least, set a time to leave the house so you can reach the office on time. If you can bring discipline and order to your lifestyle, you can free up each morning.
